Kozhikode: The second Nellara Gulf Mappilappattu awards function will be held at Al Nazar Leisure Land Ice Rink in Dubai on October 29. The organizers told that the awards were for the persons for their lifetime contributions to Mappilappattu. The categories for awards were best singer (male and female), song, album and book on the art form. Leading personalities from various fields of Malayalam would present the awards. Mappila art forms and other programmes would be staged. The organizers told that the award winners would be selected by a panel of Mappilappattu exponents from the nominations received through the media. The names of the award winners would be announced one month ahead of the programme.
